Create a Flower Wreath with Imagine Design Create Floral Fun mini stamp set
Posted on
Lucie is sharing her flower wreath card with us today, using Imagine Design Create A7 Floral Fun mini stamp set.
In this post I’ll show you how to make a simple wreath card with Imagine Design Create’s new “Floral fun” mini stamps. The set is perfect for this. as each design comes in three sizes with plenty of choices of flowers and leaves.
Preparation
Start by deciding what size you want the wreath, I used a circular die for this. Placing different sizes on the card to get an idea of the space you’re working with, mark the outline in pencil; it doesn’t have to be a complete circle as long as you have a guide (see picture)
If you’re using a drawing compass make a template on card and use the step above.
Now for the stamping
Choose which flower design you’ll be using and press the largest one onto your stamping block.
Ink up the stamp, I’ve used the middle shade of pink which was Peony, and stamp onto your card, placing the centre of the flower over your guide line. I’ve used a technique here called shadow stamping which I will talk about in more depth in another post.
It’s up to you whether you use the same stamp again in the other pinks or move onto the middle sized stamp. I tend to only use the largest in one colour.
Clean off the first stamp and attach the middle sized flower to your block. This time I’ve used two shades of ink; Opera Pink and Grape. Stamp them close to the larger flower. If the flower design you chose was asymmetrical, rotate it to give a more varied pattern. Ink up in your next colour and repeat, don’t be afraid of overlapping the flowers, this will make the wreath denser. At this point the wreath shouldn’t be complete, as you will be using the final, smallest stamp to fill gaps.
Using the smallest flower is the same process as before, fill in empty spaces around the wreath using all the shades of pink, where you think it is needed.
At this point you could finish by adding your quote to the centre. However, I wasn’t happy with the fullness and thought it needed something extra.
I chose the individual leaf from the set, again using three different sizes, and stamped in two shades of green; Sage and bamboo.
Half way through I wanted to add a darker green to make the leaves pop out more, but the only one I had didn’t work well, so I decided to keep to two shades.
For a wreath like this you could add some bird stamps in the middle or even add a photo of your own. But this time I decided to use a stamp from the Creative Quotes pack.
The Creative Quotes stamp set has a lovely selection of quotes in different fonts and styles. For the size wreath I’ve made this time the “Live Love Craft” quote worked really well
I masked off the words above and below with the sticky part of a post it note after inking the stamp. Masking stamps is something I will do a separate post about.
Align the word in the centre and stamp it, that’s it!
What I love about this set of stamps is the variety. There are lots of lovely flowers and leaves that all work together. It’s perfect for someone who’s just started stamping but defiantly makes a lovely addition to anyone’s collection.
I’ve stayed with pinks in this project, but it would look great in any colour, even a rainbow! Once you’ve got the hang of small wreaths try it on a larger card. You’ll have more space to add things like butterflies. Why not try making a wreath out of just butterfly stamps or even Christmas baubles.
Thank you for reading and feel free to leave any questions you may have.
