  1. I created this quick and simple card because i fell in love with the little pink mice!PhotoGrid_1439399586376
Especially the mouse with wings, a cute fairy mouse on a cupcake!!

I use a pink ink pad to ink up the edges, i used a pink pearl card and pink gems to embellish. The sentiment was from Natures Gallery collection.

  2. It can often be difficult to create cards for men without using gender specific items or theaming the cards to sports / cars. So i decided to challenge myself to create some cards suitable for men using my Natures Gallery collection.

I used a technique i enjoy using on my mixed media projects but haven't used on cards before, ink edging.
It is very similar to distress inking except i use my standard pigment inks and ink directly onto the card. I chose to use a warm brown to compliment the natural colours in the natures gallery collection. I then took time to select die cuts and embellishments from the natures gallery collection that i thought would suit the style i was wanting to achieve. I also use a sentiment from on of my old collections which i feel teamed up well with the cards.

As you can see on one of the cards i used a brown sharpie to edge the layered paper. I think this add a definition to the card that was needed.

Overall i'm pleased with the cards i created, i would love to know what you think.

  3. As i mentioned in my previous post i purchased a copy of simply cards and papercraft. PhotoGrid_1439145711569
One of the free cover gifts was this flower die, as soon as i saw it i was inspired to get creating & i began by making this desk calendar.

I was very pleased with the quality of the die i used it with my trusty Xcut Xpress & card. As you can see it cut perfectly & the lovely stitched edge detail on the flower looks great.

I used a square card to create this easel style desk calendar along with papers from the gorguss range & natures gallery collection. The beautiful crochet lace is self adhesive from the natures gallery collection. I used Xcut butterfly die to create the purple butterfly & i added gems, of course!

I hope you like my creation.

  4. IMG_20150727_230738Colouring is for kids right? WRONG!

Adult colouring has become the latest craze in the creative world hitting the markets with a massive range of books, pens and pencils.

I purchased myself a couple of books to give colouring a go one evening and i have to say i enjoyed it. It has been suggested that there are many therapeutic aspects to colouring in, many report that it calms and relaxes them. Some say it helps with stress and anxiety. As some of you know i suffer with a mental health condition called Bipolar and have done most of my live, those who know about the condition will know that those like myself who suffer with it have highs and lows. We struggle some days to keep ourselves level. I have thankfully been able to control my condition without medication for the past 10 years and have been using my own remedies including counselling and i now help / mentor others with the condition. I can highly recommend the use of these colouring books to those with Bipolar obviously some days they will be of no use, but on days you just need something to take your mind off everything they are great.

There are many books on the market now and something for everyone. I'm a rainbow addict so i like any books that the designs lend themselves well to being done in a rainbow style. My currently favourite is Millie Marotta's - Tropical Wonderland. I love the patterns and animals, they are lovely to colour. I mostly colour with my dual tip watercolour pens but i also like to use my artist pencils. The books are such great quality that i can use either without smudging or bleeding through. We are running a monthly colouring competition over on the facebook page for those who enjoy colouring. Take a look at the pinned post here for more information.

What do you think of the current colouring craze?

What sort of colouring books would you like to see on the market?

If you have some work you are proud of please feel free to share it with us!

  5. This week i purchased myself issue 139 of Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine &
    i'm very glad i did! . IMAG4880

Along with the fab free cover gifts were some free digi stamps to download from the website. Stamping is something i've just started doing myself again after a few years break & i'm very new to digi stamping.

I downloaded the digi stamps & printed them in a selection of sizes to experiment with. I chose to use my basic pencils on my first attempt & i'm very happy with the outcome! When i finished i decided i liked it so much that i embellished it with gems & framed it to go in my room. I'm going to use my artist pencils next & see what effects i can get using those.

I tweeted my picture to @simplycards_mag and they kindly replied https://twitter.com/SimplyCards_mag/status/630512721637822464

I hope you like my creation, any comments very welcome. As always if you have any questions please get in touch.
