I purchased myself a couple of books to give colouring a go one evening and i have to say i enjoyed it. It has been suggested that there are many therapeutic aspects to colouring in, many report that it calms and relaxes them. Some say it helps with stress and anxiety. As some of you know i suffer with a mental health condition called Bipolar and have done most of my live, those who know about the condition will know that those like myself who suffer with it have highs and lows. We struggle some days to keep ourselves level. I have thankfully been able to control my condition without medication for the past 10 years and have been using my own remedies including counselling and i now help / mentor others with the condition. I can highly recommend the use of these colouring books to those with Bipolar obviously some days they will be of no use, but on days you just need something to take your mind off everything they are great.

There are many books on the market now and something for everyone. I'm a rainbow addict so i like any books that the designs lend themselves well to being done in a rainbow style. My currently favourite is Millie Marotta's - Tropical Wonderland. I love the patterns and animals, they are lovely to colour. I mostly colour with my dual tip watercolour pens but i also like to use my artist pencils. The books are such great quality that i can use either without smudging or bleeding through. We are running a monthly colouring competition over on the facebook page for those who enjoy colouring. Take a look at the pinned post here for more information.

What do you think of the current colouring craze?

What sort of colouring books would you like to see on the market?

If you have some work you are proud of please feel free to share it with us!
