Mixed Media Creation for WTHI
Posted on
A little while ago i became a design team member of 'Where the HeART is' Challenge Blog.
The first challenge i was set required me to use a butterfly image and create a mixed media piece that included some text. The wording that was advised was 'Be Free'
I have to admit, when i first received the image i was a little over whelmed. It looked more like an image i would use to print in A4 and colour than put with my mixed media creations. I didn't let my first thoughts stop me though, i gave myself time with the image and explored different ways of using it.
I decided to create a journal cover / diary cover and once finished i decided to add complementory strands that work well as book marks.
There are certainly things i would change if i was to do it again, for example i would use lighter blue tissue paper in the centre next to the butterfly and then add the darker shades as it got further out towards the edges.
Overall i'm happy with the final piece. I liked using the 3D paint pen (glass paint pen) as it enhanced the detail from the stamp that was hiding under the tissue paper.
