Hi Everyone

Debbie here.  This is my card for the Tonic challenge to use something from around your home.

Tea Bag crafting has become very popular, so I thought I would see how I got on.

TEA BAG PREP

Choose the type of Tea bag you wish to use for your project.  I used Cranberry and Orange which gave a lovely pink hue to the bags.

Make your cuppa as you usually would.  Now rinse the bag under a running tap. Squeeze out and place onto a cotton wool pad (the type to take make up off).  Straighten the bag as much as possible.

During the drying time turn over several times and break up carefully the tea in the bag so that it does not stick to the bag.  Herbal tea bags do stick more than normal ones but usually onto one side leaving a clear side to stamp on to.

I popped mine on to my kitchen window sill.

When bone dry, take a pair of scissors and cut across the bag at the top as near as you can to the sealed edge.  Tip the contents out. These can be kept, to put onto mixed media projects giving a total recycled tea bag.

Now cut a piece of acetate that fits into your cut at top of tea bag and is longer than the bag, so it is easy to pull in and out during stamping.

HOW TO

Take your prepared tea bag and insert your acetate.  Using a Stamping Platform or acrylic block stamp your image direst onto your tea bag using your NUVO hybrid ink. I choose to use a corner from Kerri-Anne’s Abstract Corners and a flower from her Doodled Flowers Stamp Sets.  Both available from the Imagine Design Create On-line Store.

When ink is dry, colour your images with NUVO Water Colour Pencils.  Apply a tiny drop of water to your brush so that it is just damp to activate your pencil colouring.

Cut a piece of your spare White Pearlized card to just larger than your tea bag and glue into place.  You will require two of these for this design.

Set these aside.

Take your 6” x 6” Pearlized White Card and place your Split Raindrops Stencil over it and hold down with masking tape or washi tape.

Using your sponge applicator, gradually apply different layers of your embellishment mouse over the top.  The Burnished Bronze gives a lovely pinky/bronze hue. Remove tape and stencil and let dry.

Now gradually wipe your sponge applicator with embellishment mousse around the edge of your card.  I used a wipe down movement whilst holding the card up in my hand. It gave a lovely rain/mist effect.

I now used the sentiment from IDC Doodled Flowers Stamp Set that reads – If friends were flowers I’d pick you.  I stamped the sentiment onto the pink card and then matt and layered it with the white card. These were glued into place.

We are now ready to assemble our card

Matt and layer your Pink card and your Stencilled White Card onto your base card using foam pads or foam roll.

Apply more foam pads or tape to your tea bag matt’s and attach to your card as shown in photo above.

Glue your sentiment into place

The finishing touch is your NUVO drops.  I used them on both the base card and the pink matt, you may wish to just put them on your base card.

Your card is now complete and ready to send to a dear friend.  I do hope they enjoy it

Have a lovely week crafting and do pop into the IDC store in Seaton, Devon or go online.  Kerry-Anne has added some incredible new products, more IDC Stamp Sets and Stencils too. www.imaginecreatedesign.co.uk

Best Wishes
